Iliotibial Band (IT Band) Syndrome is one of the most common causes of knee and thigh pain. It occurs when the IT band, the ligament that runs along the outside of the thigh between the hip and the shin, is tight or inflamed.
What causes the IT band to become chronically tight? Do commonly recommended interventions such as stretching and foam rolling help? What about the role of strengthening exercises?
