INTRODUCTION TO PRANAYAMA
WITH NINA PILEGGI October 3, 10, 17, 24, 4:30-5:30pm
The practice of Pranayama is the fourth limb of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. Pranayama is the art and science of yogic breathing practices and can benefit the mind and the spirit. Pranayama can also reduce stress levels and bring about quietness, helping with emotional stability.
Nina will lead you through basic pranayama practices in this four week series that is appropriate for those new to this practice and more experienced students. We will practice Savasana (corpse pose), Ujjayi pranayama, and Viloma pranayama. We will learn various prop set-ups for pranayamana practice and several poses suitable for pranayama practice. Students will be encouraged to practice at home each week to prepare for the next week’s class.
Most of the class time will be spent reclining, dress warmly so as not be be distracted by body temperature.
Six months of prior yoga (asana) classes are required to participate. All levels are welcome.

Nina Pileggi: Nina is the founder and director of Sunset Yoga Center and is a certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor at the Intermediate Junior II level. Nina has taught Iyengar Yoga for over 14 years and has owned and operated Sunset Yoga Center for over 13 years. Nina’s teaching style is enthusiastic and supportive. She believes yoga can increase energy and bring us a wonderful sense of well-being. Nina received her teacher training from certified Iyengar Yoga Instructors Julie Lawrence, Dean and Rebecca Lerner and Mary Dunn. Nina has made two trips to RIMYI (Iyengar Yoga Institute) in Pune, India to study with the Iyengar family. Nina is preparing to take her Intermediate Junion III assessment in the fall of 2014.
Nina works with teachers preparing for Iyengar Yoga certification as a mentor and recommending teacher. Nina also has an apprentice program for aspiring teachers of yoga.
