We welcome experienced yoga students to Sunset Yoga Center. Iyengar Yoga classes can help you refine your alignment and knowledge of the poses and learn how to use yoga props safely and effectively. Our classes will help you take your yoga practice to the next level. Our highly-trained and knowledgeable instructors will work with you to deepen your understanding of yoga.
We cover all categories of yoga poses in our classes. Standing poses, seated poses, forward bends, back bends, inversions and restorative poses are explored. Arm balances and sun salutations are added in level 2 and level 3. The use of yoga props such as the wall, blocks, straps, and chairs add depth and understanding. Each teacher offers their own knowledge of yoga philosophy, weaving yogic ideas into class. Pranayama (study of the breath) is also included as part of our instruction.
All of our instructors have a strong commitment to yoga. Instructors are required to be certified Iyengar Yoga instructors or on the path to certification. Instructors have all completed Iyengar Yoga teacher training programs or apprenticeships. They are required to continue learning by attending weekly classes and workshops with senior teachers. This translates into classes of depth and challenge for you.
If you have prior Iyengar Yoga experience, please feel free to attend the class appropriate for your level. Students need at least six months to a year of attendance at weekly yoga classes to attend level 2 classes, and at least three years of classes, a five minute shoulder stand and 3 minute headstand to attend level 3 classes.
If you are new to Iyengar Yoga, we ask that you attend at least one eight week session of level 1 classes in order to give you a foundation for the more advanced Iyengar Yoga classes.
Please call us or email us with any questions about what class is right for you. We hope you will join us!
